Personal Data of OpenAI API Users Compromised in Hack

OpenAI has disclosed personal data of users of platform.opeani.com has been compromised in a hack that impacted one of its partners earlier this month.

This data typically includes the name, email, approximate location of the users.

The platform system is mostly used by developers like yours truly that rely on it to access and test OpenAI API for integration into their apps.

Mixpanel is an analytics company that is used primarily by Sales and Marketing divisions of companies to track the performance of their funnels and measure conversions.

The data shared with Mixpanel would usually concern more with "who the user is" and how they engage with the funnel, rather than their actual activity on the platform.

OpenAI confirmed that no chats of impacted users would be compromised as part of this hack.
